Good writing skills don’t make you a good UX writer

Speakers: Charlotte Claussen

Good writing skills are a basic requirement for UX writers. But it isn’t enough to be a talented writer. To show you why, I will take The UX Writing Challenge (https://dailyuxwriting.com/) as a starting point. The UX Writing Challenge is a 15-day course with daily tasks created by Ryan Farrell. Users often post their solutions in a dedicated feedback forum or on fully public websites. I will tell you about common assumptions beginners have, and some typical mistakes they make. I will include some real examples, shared with the writers’ permission. We will discuss how these tasks could be solved, and how the tasks might be different in an actual product development setting. I will round off with some context and give you a few tips you didn’t learn at school.
