Designing a CMS that supports great content design

Speaker: Emma Horrell

Content design is a specialist skill to be learned, and if it’s not your area, you may not have the time nor inclination to learn it or to understand why you should care about content. In HE, many of us operate with distributed and devolved content creators, who can use our content management systems (CMS) to publish content without review. We can develop training programs and documentation to support them to use the CMS and create user-centered but what if the CMS was built with content design in mind? In this talk I’ll explore how to design your CMS to support and encourage content design, making it more intuitive for distributed editors to use, with built-in tips and training. The result? A system that’s a joy to use, and great content produced as a consequence.
