Yamys Urbano Valencia is the Bilingual PR & Communications Specialist at Openlands, a regional environmental nonprofit with 60 years of history serving the Chicago metropolitan area. He works with staff to create media strategies that get people involved in conservation and recreation. Yamys is a Latino immigrant and is a passionate communications professional with extensive experience in journalism and communications. Yamys holds a BA in Journalism from Santa Rosa Catholic University (Caracas – Venezuela). Prior to joining the team at Openlands, Yamys worked as the Press and Communications Director for the Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento, California and also held various high-profile journalism roles in Venezuela.
